Become a Homeowner

The Homeownership Program at MEDA provides low- and- moderate-income first-time homebuyers with relevant financial education, credit counseling, and information on mortgage assistance programs.
MEDA offers the following services to help you achieve homeownership:

  • First Time Homebuyer Education:  Workshops on the process of buying a home, repairing your credit and saving for your down payment.
  • Individual Counseling:  One-on-one counseling helps you analyze your budget, savings, credit history, and mortgage readiness.
  • Long-term Counseling: On-going counseling is available to help you through all stages of the home buying process: setting your goals, becoming pre-approved for a mortgage loan, the escrow process, and maintaining your home over the long term.
  • Resources for First-Time Homebuyers:  MEDA clients have access to our network of qualified lenders and Realtors who specialize in first-time homebuyers and the many special programs available through the City and the State.  Clients also receive regular mailings announcing affordable homes for sale in San Francisco.

All services are FREE, bilingual (English–Spanish) and offered in two locations: Mission & Excelsior.

Call us to register for an Orientation Workshop where you will learn more about becoming a homeowner and about the services offered by MEDA.
